Medamorph Moves to New Solar-Powered Headquarters

With Fault-Tolerant Data Center

Louisville, Colo. – September 2007 – Medamorph, a company that provides billing, information technology, human resources and financial support to surgical centers and medical practices, said today that it has purchased and moved into its new, 19,250 square foot solar-powered building at the Colorado Tech Center in Louisville.

The building has been designed to facilitate optimal efficiency through its more localized and economical data center, which comes as a result, in part, of its Internet Service Provider (ISP), RockyNet, being housed in the same building.  (RockyNet is a Medamorph tenant.)

Features of the new building include:

  • Two 10-kilowatt solar array panels, providing 20 kilowatts of power.  On weekends and holidays, electricity is sold back to Xcel Energy.  As of today, the solar array has generated 1314 kilowatt hours, which is equivalent to the amount of energy needed to power 26 homes in one day.  In addition, it has avoided 1632 pounds of carbon dioxide, the amount of pollution an average car emits over a 60-day period.  Real-time information regarding Medamorph solar energy production can be found here.
  • A data center that provides robust availability, reliability and security.  It features OC-3, 155.52 Mbps (megabits per second) access to three different high-speed data lines, guaranteeing continuous internet connection.  A 400-KVA (kilovolt ampere) generator provides enough power to continue running in the case of a power outage with a large-scale battery back-up to ensure even distribution of power should an outage occur.  The center also features redundancy in its five 30-ton air conditioners and security through fully-controlled card-key access, alarm, and camera systems.
  • A highly-virtualized VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol), expandable 16-seat call center.  The center features visual queues to seamlessly reroute calls to idle schedulers; no patient is ever left waiting.

“The new building and data center will ensure a stable environment that is protected from outside influences,” said Dr. Joel Montbriand, Medamorph Chief Executive Officer.  “We are virtually self-sufficient, which is key to providing the best quality product to our clients.”
