Joel Montbriand, M.D., is the founder and CEO of Medamorph. Dr. Montbriand created Medamorph in 2002 with the belief that with strong infrastructure, medical practices can progress in productivity and create the highest level of patient care, and customer satisfaction.
The Medamorph team provides consulting, billing and collecting, administrative, and IT services. Dr. Montbriand works closely with the team to provide highly qualified, cutting edge customer service to medical practices and ambulatory surgical centers.
Dr. Montbriand founded Gastroenterology of the Rockies in 1994. Since then Gastroenterology of the Rockies has grown from one single location to eight locations with five A.S.C.S., with twenty-three providers. The key to this success was the early adoption and implementation of best business practices and an underlying culture of customer service, quality, compassionate care, ongoing education, accountability, and employee recognition.
Dr. Montbriand was named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2006 in the Rocky Mountain region for the Healthcare and Life Sciences category. The award recognized his accomplishments in building a practice with leading-edge, quality-improvement technology that frees doctors and nurses to focus more of their time and energy on patients and less on administrative tasks.
Dr. Montbriand received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota in 1982 and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis in 1985. He completed his Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Michigan Medical Center, Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1987. He accepted an appointment as Instructor of Medicine at the University of Michigan from 1987-1988 and then moved his family to Boulder in 1988, where he started his private practice.
Montbriand is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and is Clinical-Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado, Denver. In 1994, he received the designation FACP (Fellow of the American College of Physicians), in recognition of his ongoing service and contributions to medicine through published articles in peer reviewed journals and his academic activities at the University of Colorado. In 2006, he was promoted by the American College of Gastroenterology to the level of Fellow (FACG).
In addition to his medical qualifications, Dr. Montbriand graduated from an intensive training program and completed national boards to become a Certified Manager in Physician Practice Management in 2002.
He was chosen as one of the top 200 doctors (and one of the top two gastroenterologists) in Colorado in a Rocky Mountain News Poll.
Dr. Montbriand is past President of the Medical Staff at Boulder Community Health (1999) and is the former Community Medical Center Vice President of the Board of Directors, in Lafayette. Montbriand was also the Vice President of Boulder Valley Independent Physicians Association from 2000 to 2012.
